Debbie's "My Birthday Blog Hop"

I am so super excited to be Debbie's special guest. This is my very first time participating in a blog hop, so I am so super excited to be on this hop with so many talented ladies!! I would like take a minute to say Happy, Happy Birthday to Debbie!
If you just came from Dianne's blog you are in the right place. If not, you can start at Debbie's blog and hop on through and see everyone's awesome creations!

Here is the complete line up in case you get lost along the way : )

Now, on to my project. I first started to create a layout. I thought I would take this opportunity to do some scrapping for myself since it's been quite some time since I have scrapped my own stuff. However, I started getting everything ready for the layout, and low and behold the specific photo I wanted to use was gone. After about an hour of sifting through photos, I found it and my son was cut out, lol. I must have let him use it for a school project and forgot, lol. Ok.. so enough of that and on with my Happy Birthday card. I'm so not a card maker, but I am so happy with the way that this card turned out.

For the "Happy Birthday" I used the totally awesome Cri-Kits. These pens are so worth it!! I created a title in my Make the Cut program and then I plopped the Cri-Kit housing and pen into the Cricut and away it went! I truly cannot get over how fun these pens are to use. I have so many ideas running through my head to use these with! I had so much fun playing with these, and thanks to Cri-Kits I will have a set of Cri-Kits for one lucky winner!

You say you want more blog candy?? Well... with a huge thanks to Picture Keeper one lucky winner will also win an awesome Picture Keeper. This is awesome for storing and saving all those precious photos!!

What you have to do to earn an entry to win this amazing candy is:
1) Become a follower

I hope you all had fun along the hop. You have hopped all the way through! Woo Hoo!!

My Scrappy Corner

I know... I know... I should have posted these a week or so ago once I was finished rearranging/organizing my scrappy corner. Here is my redefined scrap area. It works so much better for me. It works even better if the computer isn't around, lol. I spend too much time blog surfing and not creating! : )

These were during the process.

This is after. I am really, really happy with the way it is set up now. It is so much more functional for me!

This is my Pampered Chef tool caddy, lol. It works SO perfectly for all my scrappy tools. Who woulda thought? lol

Cupcake Toppers

A few days ago I spent two days creating some cute and fun cupcake toppers. My nephew has a bake sale for his school every few months (this is their fundraisers for the school), and my sister was looking for something to do for Valentine's Day and I decided to try my hand at the cupcake toppers. This was the perfect opportunity since I have been wanting to try these for a while now and just never got around to it. I had SO much fun making these and they turned out so cute!

The first set is a Valentine's Day set. I really love how these turned out.

And, then we made some Chicago Bears toppers for the game today. Too bad they didn't win, but it's all right. We're still DA BEARS fans all the way!

I was really happy the way these came out!
I am taking special orders on cupcake toppers. Just let me know what you're looking for!

How to Resolve the MTC and Kaspersky Issue

Hey Everyone - This morning I woke up to a HUGE problem. My virus protection, Kaspersky, told me that my Make the Cut program had a virus and deleted it from my computer. After spending half the day trying to figure out what in the world was going on, and with a bit of help from BettyM over on the Make the Cut forum I finally figure it all out. It is now up and running
with no problems at all. I was determined to keep my MTC and my Kaspersky because I LOVE Kaspersky and, of course, I could NOT give up my MTC. No way... no how! : )

So, I figure that I would post a little generic tutorial here for those of you having this issue too. Please bear with me as I try to explain this as best as I can. : )

NOTE: I do not have a solution for those using the ZoneAlarm program.

Before you begin doing anything. I recommend that you UNINSTALL MTC, restart your computer, and then download the program again. Once you download it again DO NOT click on "Launch MTC now". We do not want to open it until we go through the following steps first.

First, you will want to open your Kaspersky. Then you will click on settings shown in the photo above.

Once you've clicked on settings this is what you will see (refer to photo above). You will need to click on "Threats and Exclusions".

Once you click on "Threats and Exclusions" this is what you will see. From here you will need to click on settings under the exclusions section.

Once you click on settings this box pops up. With this box you will want to click on "add".

This is what it will look like once you have clicked on "add".

Now, you will need to check both boxes "OBJECT" and "THREATS TYPE". You will see this in the small oval at the top (mine is not checked, as I'm doing this again and I've already completed mine). Then you will need to click on "SELECT OBJECT" this is highlighted in the larger circle.

This is what you will see when you click on "SELECT OBJECT". In the box that pops up paste this into the box ( C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\Make The Cut!\MTC!.exe ) - do not paste the parenthesis. Then click on browse.

Once you have clicked on "BROWSE" this is what will come up. It will be highlighted in blue, and then click "OK". It's going be pop back to the screen before that and click "OK" again.

You will go back to the box with the objects/threats boxes. Notice at the bottom you will now see the file name that you want to be "trusted". Now, you will want to click on "ANY".

When you click on any it's going to say "SPECIFIED: SELECT COMPONENTS". You want to click on this. In the box that pops up check every box and click "OK".

It's going to take you back to the window with the objects/threats box again. You will now need to click on "ENTER THREAT NAME".

In this box you will paste this: Net-Worm.Win32.Kolab.rvx
and then click "OK"

Ok - Now you have that all completed. Let's move on to a few more steps. I'm not totally sure if these steps here are needed, but I completed them just to be on the safe side and my MTC is working just fine now.

Now you will want to click on the tab that says "TRUSTED APPLICATIONS" and then click on add at the bottom. Both are highlighted in the photo above.

It will come up for you to "browse". Go ahead and click on that.

After you click on browse this is what is going to come up (remember I am using Windows 7 but I'm sure it all should come up the same way) You will want to click on "COMPUTER" on the left hand side (or what ever place your hard drive is in). Then you will want to open "LOCAL DISC C:"

Now you will want to click on "PROGRAM FILES"

Once you click on "PROGRAM FILES" you will be taken to all your program files, so go ahead and scroll down the "MAKE THE CUT".

You will see a file "MTC". You will want to click on this and click "OPEN".

This box will pop up and check every box and then click "OK". You will click "OK" again on the previous screen. Then you will be taken back to the screen shown below. Once you get back to this screen you will need to click on "APPLY". If you do not click on "APPLY" all that work will be for nothing.

Phewwwwww - I know that was a bit of work, but now you can open Make the Cut from your desktop shortcut. You should not have a problem with MTC and Kaspersky colliding again! I know it was quite a bit of work, but it's so worth it. There is no better feeling then having your good 'ol Make the Cut back, up and running!!!

I hope this all helps you in getting yours working properly again.

BTW - This is my very first tutorial!! : )

Scrap Storage

I have had quite a few people ask me recently about how I keep my paper scraps. Well, since I had a limited space for storing a lot of my scrappy supplies I have to always find different ways to organize and store my supplies. I thought it would be nice to share how I store all my scraps. I keep all of my paper scraps in an expandable file folder and then I keep all my patterned paper in a filing cabinet, which I have hanging folders in to hold my patterned scraps. With the expandable file folder I have each slot labeled by color. This makes it SO easy to just grab the color you need and find what you want. With the filing cabinet I do not have the scraps in any specific order at all. They're just in there and if I'm looking for something I have to sift through each folder. I guess I should sort them in some kind of order, but that's way down on the "to do" list, lol. I hope this can help some of you out with your scrap storage solutions. In the filing cabinet I also store my magazines and idea books. : )

Ribbon Storage

As some of you may know I decided to re-organize my scrappy space and my biggest dilemma was my ribbon. I had all my ribbon in tall storage containers that you would put leftovers in that I found at the Dollar Tree. That was just not working for me anymore. I didn't know what I had and it was SO hard to find what I wanted or needed when I was looking.

I searched and searched to see what I could do to better utilize what ribbon I have. This is what I finally came up with. It works for me. It's now to where I can pull the basket down and see every type and color of ribbon I have. This is not all that I have and I am still working on wrapping the ribbon around the cards but it's getting done slowly but surely, lol.

For all my ribbon on the rolls, which isn't very much, I had my Dad cut me a dowel rob and we placed that on three curtain hooks that you would use to hold the curtain rod up in the middle so that it don't droop down. This also works very well for me.

Looky, Looky - It's a giveaway!!

Ok -- So, this will be my very first blog giveaway. I'm super excited!! I hope you all are excited too!! I have pondered on this for a few days and wondered what I might want to give away but just couldn't put my finger on something. A few friends gave me some suggestions and I went with that. They suggested that I giveaway a "Kristy Kreation", so that is exactly what I'm going to do!

A "Kristy Kreation" could be one of the following:

1) 2 page 12x12 premade layout
2) a premade border that will fit a 12x12 layout
3) a page kit set that will make a complete 12x12 layout
4) a completed paper piecing set

NOW... What you will have to do is the following (this will give you one entry)

1) Leave a comment below and tell my why you would like to win a "Kristy Kreation"

To earn extra entries do the following (and let me know):

1) Become a follower of my blog
2) Share this on Facebook or Twitter
3) Become a fan of Scraptastical Kreations on Facebook

I will be choosing my winner on January 13th and I will be using Random.org to do so.

Sneak Peeks

I have completed a few things in the last couple of days, and I thought it would be fun to share some "sneak peaks" with all of you before I list them on Tuesday. There may be some more added to this list later on today, as I am getting scrappy with it all day today! The weather is blah... it's cold and snowy out so I plan to sit in my scrappy corner most of the day.

Also, I will be doing a blog giveaway very soon, so be sure to keep checking back!
